The atmospheric piano-driven prologue doesn’t give out much, but once “Life Thoughts Memory” hits with the brilliant leads, the dramatic intricate accumulations, the unnerving jarring riffs, and the sudden breath-taking balladic breaks the listener will have problems recalling another opus with the same labyrinthine qualities. One had to start taking the band seriously after this audacious recording, including me, and I was definitely eager to acquire the album reviewed here the moment it came out. The band were quite adept at mixing their surgically technical histrionics with warmer psychedelic ornaments and a more sterile, somewhat mechanical guitar sound akin to the one used by modern 90’s thrashers like Aleister and Aftermath a marvellously achieved symbiosis on all counts which still resided within the death metal parametres. To my amazement, the guys had come up with a truly striking complex work of death metal wizardry which served the best from Atheist, Hieronymus Bosch, and especially two grand opuses from the 90’s: Martyr’s “Warp Zone”, and the lesser known ”Absurd Divinity” by the Portuguese innovators Thormenthor.

He recommended it as “a progressive death metal masterpiece”, in other words, I was to expect quite a metamorphosis occurred within the span of less than a year. It was several years later when a friend of mine handed me their sophomore affair “Cyberly”, and I remembered the band and their “arythmic” debut. In fact, I never bothered to check out any subsequent effort from their repertoire. It wasn’t a bad effort by any means, it’s just that it didn’t arouse my interest to the point that I barely slept until their next instalment. I promise to correct this unenviable situation very soon, but for now my heart, and also soul, is thoroughly concerned with this great act here who I almost dismissed after hearing their debut “Arythmia” in 2003 which was a rough-around-the-edges progressive power/speed metal saga with not very suitable gruff death-ish vocals. Even now I can barely come up with a couple of names the band under scrutiny here by all means, but then… The progressive death metal formation Seven Daily Sins, the classic thrash novices Genetic Soul… that’s pretty much it.
